What Is Agnihotra?

Agnihotra is a Vedic ritual performed in Hindu communities. It is mentioned in the Atharvaveda and described in detail in the Yajurveda Samhita and the Shatapatha Brahmana. The Vedic form of the ritual is still performed by the Nambudiri Brahmins of Kerala and by a small number of Vaidiki Brahmins in South Asia. This ritual has long been a secret knowledge and only recently was revealed to the public, acknowledged and studied as a healing practice.

Agnihotra is quite a simple process. It is performed at dawns and dusks. The rite uses a copper pyramid of specific size, dried manure, cow milk butter oil, and brown (unpolished) rice.

Understanding Agnihotra

According to the Veda, the large amount of energy enter the Earth during sunrises and sunsets. That energy is managed and accepted during the rite. At first sight it is hard to understand the essence of Agnihotra as this is the science of energy, science of vibration, however, the effect of the process is obvious. The effect is manifested through people, animals, plants, and all living species.

In compliance with estimations of the scientists, magnet field around the pyramid increases during the rite. A number of universities of India have studied the efficiency and proved the usefulness of Agnihotra.

It is important to understand that Agnihotra does not provide any medicine or potions, but provides a powerful catalyst helping heal many diseases. During the rite, the ability of an organism to self-healing increases when a person is breathing in the smoke or takes Agnihotra ash.
